Pitbull Brothers At A Virginia Shelter Clearly Do Not Like Being Separated

Oct 04, 2019

Humans and animals bond strongly with their siblings. When a dog makes this bond its emotions can intensify. Two shelter dogs demonstrate how very close brothers can be.

Their names are Zeus and Country, and they were happy living in Virginia because life with their owner was good. They are friendly and affectionate dogs because they lived at home with their family. Unfortunately, happiness turned to sorrow when their owner had to relocate and couldn’t take them along. They wound up in the SPCA in Winchester, Frederick and Clarke County

“They are very sweet,” Lavenda Denney, executive director of the shelter, told The Dodo. “They give kisses and are very expressive. When you walk to their kennels they quit barking and tilt their heads to the side to check you out. Big happy puppies.”

The Pitbulls proved to be dogs with a sweet nature and got along with everyone pretty well. When they were separated, however, the brothers would cry and whine until they were reunited.

“They prefer to be with each other at all times,” Denney explained. “They sleep together in the same bed even when offered separate beds. They look for each other even when walking together on separate leashes.”

This fact proved to make their adoption difficult, as they would needed to find a home with a family who was willing to take both dogs in. This all changed, however, when a man saw a story about the dogs in the media and decided to take them in. The shelter announced their adoption on social media

"We are pleased to announce that they found their perfect furever home and will spend their days frolicking by the river and living it up in the country," they wrote.
