Patrick Swayze's Younger Brother, The Spitting Image Of The Late Dirty Dancing Star, Works As Actor Too

Jan 26, 2020

If you ever watched “Dirty Dancing” or “Ghost”, you know the heartthrob that was Patrick Swayze. But what many people may not know about the performer is that he had a few siblings, one of whom could be mistaken for the late actor.

In 2009 Patrick Swayze lost his battle to pancreatic cancer. He was only 57 years old. He left behind his wife Lisa Niemi and his three siblings, his brothers Donny and Sean, and a younger sister Bambi. Donny bears a striking resemblance to his older brother and not only in looks: the younger Swayze is also an entertainer. He has starred in films like Edge of Honor (1991) and Pontiac Moon (1994).

Don opened up to Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush to talk about the death of his brother. "I think, yeah, there was peace at the end," Donny said. "But he had been fighting for his life up 'til, just I mean, 'til he couldn't fight any longer."

When Patrick was diagnosed with the disease he was given only a couple months to live. However, the dancer defeated his odds and lived for nearly two more years.  Dr. Lucas Wong, co-director of the gastrointestinal cancer program at Scott & White Memorial Hospital & Clinic in Temple, Texas told ABC News that for pancreatic cancer, "the median survival is probably five months."

The director also suggested that Patrick’s active lifestyle may have helped the icon live longer than what was predicted. For Donny, he added in his interview with Access, "He was just such a force. He had an opinion about everything! He had a strong personality," Donny said. "My big brother was just bigger than life."
