Octopus Returns To Say Thank You To People Who Rescued It

Feb 25, 2019

Octopuses are fascinating creatures. They're very intelligent and have a tendency to escape (it's pretty easy when your body is pretty much all jelly!). Octopuses might be a little weird looking, but they can also be very sweet.

A family on holiday at the Red Sea in Soma Bay, Egypt, had their own incredible octopus encounter. They noticed that an octopus was stranded on the beach.

It didn't look so good: the octopus had been left out a little too long and was starting to dry out.

The family thought quickly and pushed the octopus back into the sea. The octopus revived and swam away.

The next day, something amazing happened.

The family was wandering along that same stretch of beach. Then they noticed a shadow in the water that was swimming closer. It soon became clear that this was the same octopus from before! The octopus swam up to them and tickled their feet as they walked in the sand.

It seemed like the octopus wanted to come back and thank the family for their good deed. How sweet!

This also shows how clever octopuses are: this one apparently recognized the humans.

Animals might not speak human language, but there are some gestures we can all understand. Simple acts of kindness resonate no matter what species you are. This octopus' experience is a reminder to pay it forward.

You never know when someone (or something) might be in need.
