Nursing Technician Performs 'Amazing Grace' For Patient In Emotional Video

Feb 18, 2019

Many people know the stress of being a patient stuck in a hospital. But one nurse technician in Tennessee recently went above and beyond the call of duty to make the stay of an ailing grandmother a little more comfortable.

The grandmother, Patsy Tate, was feeling a bit confused and experienced an abnormal heart rhythm when she arrived at Nashville's St. Thomas West Hospital. Mikea Braden was the nurse technician who tended to the needs of Patsy. Mikea hummed a tune to herself while working.

Patsy's husband asked Mikea if she knew 'Amazing Grace.' Mikea affirmed that she knew the song and told Patsy and her family she would sing it for them.

The nurse technician began to sing and the moment can only be described as magical.

Patsy and her family hail from Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, the original birthplace of southern gospel.

And they absolutely loved Mikea's rendition of the song.

Patsy's daughter, Olivia, captured the moment on video. She posted the video on her Social Media page for everyone to enjoy.

'My grandmother is sick at St. Thomas West Hospital, Nashville and she has been blessed with the MOST AMAZING nurse tech!!" Wrote Olivia in the caption for the video.

Olivia spoke to the Western Journal and said she could not believe how many people were interested in sharing in her family's special moment with Mikea.

She then said their nursing tech is a special person who brings joy to the patients she treats. Her heart was warmed by the way social media gave praise to such an amazing person.

Patsy returned to the nursing home where she lives a few days later but all bets are that she will never forget the amazing moment she spent with Mikea.
