Nicole Kidman No Longer Does Botox But Doesn't 'Judge' Others For Their Beauty Routines

Born on June 20, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Nicole Kidman is an Australian actress and producer. She has starred in a number of films in various film genres, including the movie-musical "Moulin Rouge!" in 2001 and the psychological horror film "The Others" in 2001. Some of her more recent works include the 2020 musical comedy film "The Prom" and the 2021 miniseries "Nine Perfect Strangers," which she both starred in and produced.

Kidman has been married to husband Keith Urban since 2006 and the pair share two children. The actress credits her husband for helping her gain confidence in herself and come out of her shell. She said she was rather introverted and shy before marrying the country singer. The couple is very supportive of each other's successful careers and always makes time to speak out about their latest projects.

One place where Kidman's confidence has always shown through is onscreen. The star is not afraid to undergo a bold transformation if it will help her get deeper into her role. Throughout her long career, Kidman has dramatically changed her look a number of times and the effort has certainly helped her performances as well.

Kidman's films vary in genre and she has portrayed many different people over the years. From playing Virginia Woolf in "The Hours" with a prosthetic nose to donning a wig and heavy makeup to bring punk rocker, Queen Boadicea, to life in "How to Talk to Girls at Parties," Kidman's many looks have been iconic. Kidman has been working as an actress in Hollywood since 1983 and audiences have seen her change her look countless times.

While the actress has had to play several different roles over the years, Kidman has also been open about her stance on beauty in the entertainment industry. In 2007 she told Marie Claire she focuses on natural beauty.

"To be honest, I am completely natural. I have nothing in my face or anything. I wear sunscreen, and I don't smoke. I take care of myself. And I'm very proud to say that,” the actress shared. However, she also opened up and revealed she hasn’t always practiced the natural look she wears now. She told a German Magazine in 2011 that she has tried things like Botox.

“I even tried Botox but I didn't like how my face looked afterwards. Now I don't use it any more and I can move my forehead again,” she said. The star actress has said she has found that a lot of beauty procedures simply don’t work.

“I've tried a lot of things, but aside from sports and good nutrition, most things don't make a difference,” she said.

Kidman says she doesn’t judge others on how they choose to look. "Anybody can do anything to themselves, their bodies. I have no judgment on it. I personally believe in physical health because of the way I was raised. I can't go in the sun; I'm fair-skinned. That was a nightmare when I was a kid, but it has some benefits now. It's that simple. I still had one skin cancer on my leg, because I put my legs in the sun."

Kidman’s positive outlook on promoting staying true to yourself has carried into another part of her career, being a mother.  It seems Nicole is also teaching her own daughters that kind of empowerment too. She revealed in the same interview that she has been focusing on female empowerment in Hollywood.

She spoke of working with more female-directed films and shows in her own career, as her "way of going, 'Hold me accountable.'" She vowed:

"My commitment to this industry is that I will give a platform for new voices to come forward and they can piggyback on me ... That's part of the 'paying it forward.”

She also added that she has "a 13-year-old who wants to be a director — she's really interested in comedy." There's no doubt that sticking to her acting career and now using her influence to help women in Hollywood will have an impact on her own family and the next generation of female creatives in the industry. The Hollywood star says she learned this perspective from her own feminist mother. She opened up and said from a young age she was in a supportive women's environment.

“A hundred women, sitting around talking and smoking. I can’t remember the actual conversations, but I remember eating a lot of biscuits,” she said

Besides being a role model for her family and women all over the world, Kidman remains very busy with her schedule. Recently she has starred in television shows like “Big Little Lies,” and “Nine Perfect Strangers,” with more projects in the que.
