Viewers Are Captivated By Adorable Fluffy Oreo-Colored Dog And His Unique Markings

Oct 23, 2020

Oreo Cloud a.k.a. Chief, the Chow-Chow from California, has captured the hearts of the Internet with his adorable appearance. And this adorable video, uploaded by Oreo Cloud's owner back in May of 2020, explains why.

One of the most incredible things about the world of dogs is that there is a seemingly endless variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. Often, when you look at the broad swath of breeds and mixes, it becomes hard to believe that they all descended from a common wolf.

From a massive Great Dane to a minuscule Chihuahua, there is something for everyone. Among all of these options, one of the most unique is the Chow-Chow. This breed has its roots in Asia, and there is no shortage of novel attributes. From their stubby noses, dense fluffy fur, and sharp-witted but stubborn personalities, they have a die-hard following. Even their trademark purple tongue is unique if a bit strange.

The personality of Chows can be considered a wonderful thing or a limitation depending on your perspective. They are undeniably brilliant animals, having been raised from ancient Chinese dogs as fierce companions and protectors. However, they can often be too clever for their own good.

They can easily become bored, and often somewhat destructive if not given the proper stimulation. They not only look like little lions, but they can occasionally act like it, too!

Although burnt orange is the most commonly seen color for a Chow-Chow, they are available in a variety of hues. They can be red, blue, cream, cinnamon, brown, or even white. However, blended colors — known in the trade as "party colors" — tend to be extremely rare. That's what makes the particular pup so special.

The Chow-Chow we see here is a very unique coloring, combining white and black in a speckled pattern. Given his distinctly "cookies and cream" appearance, his name probably came very naturally to his owners. From the second his parents picked him from the litter, this Chow was known as "Oreo Cloud," Oreo for short, or Chief.

Sara Hamilton is Oreo's owner, and she's had him since he was a tiny fluff ball of only six weeks old.

Despite his increasing size, Sara tells Bored Panda that he has always been a very well behaved and easily trainable dog. In fact, when she brought him home, she was surprised to learn that he was already house trained. Anyone who has ever dealt with a puppy knows how rare this is, and what a life-save it can be.

Even though he is willing to learn and please, Oreo still retains the trademark Chow-Chow stubbornness. Sara is quick to admit that he is a leader, not a follower. He is incredibly curious and always makes sure to keep an eye on the family. From a young age, he has taken his job as a guard dog seriously, often sleeping by the front door so he can be the first to spot any intruders.

When Sara posted pictures of him on Facebook, Oreo was quickly made famous. He was spotted by the Facebook group "Dogspotting Society," and people immediately fell in love. Between his stunning coat and piercing blue eyes, it is no mystery why.

He's hoping to use his good looks and charm to make a difference. Oreo is currently in training to become a therapy dog who brings joy and a sense of calm to struggling children.

Everyone loves seeing a beautiful dog, especially one with such a unique cookie-patterned coat as Oreo. What's your favorite speckled pup you've run across? Tell us in the comments and be sure to pass this doggo around!
