Mother Writes Difficult Message To Demonstrate The Impact Of Bullying On Children

Oct 15, 2019

A recent post on Facebook served an unsettling lesson for its readers about the dark reality of bullying. Carrie Golledge is the mother of Sophia, a 6-year-old girl who was the victim of a bully.

She posted a photo on Facebook showing her young daughter in the hospital. The distressed mother wanted to share the realities of bullying with the world in order for others to learn from such a terrible ordeal.

Little Sophia was hospitalized after suffering from such high anxiety that it kept her awake at night, vomiting repeatedly. It got to the point where she went in and out of the hospital on "countless trips," and yet the school reacted by saying that "It's just 6-year-olds being 6-year-olds." The school even shamed her and made her sneak into the side door at school, and getting her in trouble for lying. On top of it all, the bully's parents have been mocking sweet Sophia on social media.

Thankfully, Sophia's health has improved now that her parents have taken her out of that school and away from a bullying situation. Her mom told The Mirror that "...the minute she was removed from the school, her health picked up, she's put weight back on and she's had a growth spurt."

It's a happy ending for Sophia, and for Carrie, whose social media post has encouraged many messages of support for the family, Carrie told The Sun.

"I have been inundated with such amazing messages from people that I don't even know and I am trying to get through them all while I also work out how to allow you all to comment on the post."

"You are all incredible I'm restoring our faith in people that has been stripped from us over the last couple months."
