Mother Passes Away After Ignoring Common Bug Bite, Daughter Speaks Out About Her Mistake

Jun 19, 2018

If you’ve ever spent time in the woods, it’s likely that you’ve encountered a certain type of annoying insect. Ticks are not only meddling, but their bites can be very dangerous to humans.

Tamela Wilson’s family is now speaking out after an unfortunate experience with this creature. After suddenly becoming sick, Wilson headed to the doctor’s office for a visit that related to her unusual symptoms. The woman fell ill with chronic headaches, body pains, and an unnaturally red rash. Once being treated, the doctors became aware that the woman was in grave danger. Wilson was having difficulty holding objects, was shaking and had decreasing numbers of white blood cells. Unbeknownst to the doctor’s, the cause of Wilson’s failing health was due to a tick.

Wilson’s primary care physician immediately sent her over to a hospital where workers began to treat her ailments. However, the staff was still unaware of the primary cause of her condition. Wilson’s family mentioned that each time they went to visit her, her health seemed to deteriorate further. It became obvious to them that the treatment was not effective.

Not knowing what to do next, the staff treating Wilson sent samples of her blood to the CDC, known as the Center For Disease Control while they tried to lessen her symptoms.

When the shocking results from her blood work came back, doctors became alarmed.

The Center For Disease Control determined that Wilson had a diagnosis of the Bourbon virus. This virus is a highly uncommon disease that is spread by ticks and unfortunately has no cure at this time. With this serious diagnosis, the staff prayed for a happy outcome and tried to make Wilson as comfortable as possible. Wilson devastatingly passed away three weeks after first admitting herself to the hospital for these symptoms.

In the wake of her death, Wilson’s daughter is speaking out in the video below to hopefully spread awareness about the Bourbon virus. If we can all learn a lesson from this mother’s unfortunate passing, it should be to check our body for ticks and wear protective bug spray.

Taking these measures can help save your life.
