Mop-Looking Dog Becomes Internet Famous Viral For Swimming In A Lake

Jul 08, 2020

A video of a Komondor dog from Lithuainia swimming in a lake posted in 2019 went viral as millions of people thought the dog looked like a mop.

Globally, there are more than 400 breeds of dogs. The Komondor or the mop dog is one of the unique and unusual-looking breeds that you can ever find. For Gintare Bertauskiene, mop dog had been her long-life obsession since childhood age. When she was a kid, Gintare received a postcard that featured the mop dog, and she kept the letter ever since. When the time came, she accomplished her goals by buying the mop dog. Gintare, who dwells in Lithuania, is now the proud owner of Hanga. One of the two mop dogs within the states.

Komondor has an unusual fur that makes them stand out amongst other dog breeds. Her dog has natural cords and a unique appearance that brings out their beauty. Whenever Gintare walks with her dog, people always tend to draw their attention because of the dog's unique fur. The Komondor coat tends to be long and think; thus, it always needs a lot of care to avoid mats and knots. However, Hanga is still lucky since her owner is also a pet groomer. Hanga gained internet popularity after a video clip of her having fun in a lake was shared online. After some years, the clip garnered more than 19 million views! Gintare even made some cash out of it and used that money to pay for her dog's surgery.

On the streets, people always love to turn their attention to Hanga because of its nature and popularity. Passers-by are always continually asking to take pictures with the dog because of its majestic look. Thus, Gintare always prefers to take the dog for a walk in the evening to avoid attention. Furthermore, her dog is always overprotective and wary of strangers. If there are too many strangers around her, she sometimes gets tensed and might react.

This is entirely understanding, given that the dog is meant for livestock guarding. It has a temperament similar to guarding dogs; when things are running normally, it is calm and collected, but will fearlessly defend its flock when it senses danger. Furthermore, the dog was breed to act independently and make decisions on its own.

Komondor has a robust body size, massive power, speed, and strength. Thus, if you think of buying a mop dog, you must keep in mind that they are stubborn about maintaining. Furthermore, its independent nature makes it difficult for one to train the dog and lead to a dangerous situation. Therefore, you must always train the dog at a tender age between 4-8 months as it will be easy to tame and control the dog.

Mop dogs are born without dreads, but with a short white coat, that gradually forms into curls as the dog grows. After one year, the coils change into matted patches, and that's when pet groomer intervention is needed to separate them into single cords. The coat reaches its fulls potential when the dog becomes five years old. Maintain the dreads eradicates all risks involved, such as diseases.
