Michael Bublé Graciously Thanked Jesus Christ Following News Of His Son’s Cancer Remission

Known for topping the charts with his jazz and swing style of music, Canadian-born Michael Bublé is more than merely what meets the eye. While the wealthy musician with the model wife might seem to have it all at first glance, his life started out with very humble beginnings.

Born Sept. 9, 1975, as the son of a fisherman, Bublé had dreams that stretched way beyond the seashore, even when he was just a little boy. It was after listening to a Bing Crosby song that tugged on his heartstrings that caused Bublé to fall in love with jazz and the swing era. He wanted to be a singer so badly that he slept with his Bible in the hopes of becoming a famous musician.

Through hard work and a lot of support from his family, Bublé was able to find major success. Today, Bublé is one of the most famous singers of our time and continues to be celebrated for the incredible music he makes. 

However, beyond his professional life, Bublé's personal life has been filled with difficulties. Bublé and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, have four children together, and in 2016, their oldest son, Noah, who was three at the time, was diagnosed with cancer. No matter what, cancer is a scary diagnosis, and it is especially scary when your young child is diagnosed. 

Thankfully, by 2018, Noah was able to recover, and this left both Bublé and Lopilato extremely grateful that Noah had gone back in remission. Read on to know more about the challenges that Bublé's family faced and their gratitude today. 

Bublé and Lopilato got engaged in November 2009 and were married in March 2011. In March 2021, the singer posted a sweet post on their anniversary with the caption, "The good things in life have been better with you, and you've helped lift me through some of the hardest times imaginable. You're my way better half, my hero and the light of my life."

The couple has four children, with the youngest daughter being born in 2022. And on July 28, 2022, Bublé posted a heartwarming video of his eldest child, son Noah, playing the piano as he tried to sing along through tears.

The video opened with Noah playing the opening notes of his father's song "I'll Never Not Love You" as Bublé leaned on the piano edge. The surprise at his son's confident playing showed on Bublé's face as he smiled and pointed, gesturing to someone offscreen. He then began singing along, but his voice started to falter. He momentarily had to stop singing, and the caption "I'm getting choked up" appeared next to heart emojis. The proud papa continued singing, looking over at and patting his son while trying to contain his emotions. He was seen putting his hand over his heart as he sang, beaming while mouthing the words "He's the best!" to the person offscreen. 

Bublé captioned the post: "Noah surprised me after I was away on tour. He worked so hard to learn this song. So proud of my guy," and "More talent in his little fingers than I have in my whole body." 

Bublé, who leaned on his faith to help catapult his career, seemingly had his faith put to the test after his firstborn, Noah, took ill. The shocking diagnosis of liver cancer caused Bublé to cancel his tour in order to be by his family's side, according to USA Today. 

In a video from 2018, Bublé explained to James Corden, who is also a dad of young kids, that his “whole life ended” when he got his son’s diagnosis. They decided to take it day by day with their entire family’s support, who pulled their kids out of school and went to California to be there for Noah.

“We all moved and we lived at (Children’s Hospital Los Angeles) and we just had the best doctors and, God, thank you, Jesus Christ,” said the tearful singer. He attributed getting through the entire ordeal to his wife’s positivity and recounted the moment that they heard about Noah’s remission. Bublé said he "just fell" when he heard, and his wife picked him right up.

In a genuine moment, he went on to tell James about Noah’s love for Spiderman and superheroes in general. But he’s sure to remind him that they’re all fake and say, “They’re not real. You’re a superhero. You’re MY hero. A real superhero.”

The end of the segment was a plea for a donation to the Stand Up To Cancer special from both Bublé and Corden so that others can get the quality cancer care that Noah received. 

After undergoing lots of treatment, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy, Noah was able to beat hepatoblastoma and make a full recovery. Lopilato expressed how relieved she was to see her son recover from his illness and even referred to it as a “miracle.” “You don’t go through big things in your life, dramatic things like I’ve gone through or my wife has gone through without it having an effect on you.” Bublé told PEOPLE.

After Noah's recovery in 2017, the couple welcomed their first daughter Vida, whose name is the Spanish word for life, the following year. Although his career has been nestled in his affinity for the '50s era, swing and jazz aren't the only genres that Bublé has explored over the years. Not only has he covered some of the most popular songs, such as "The Way You Look Tonight" and "Moondance," but he has also covered Latin sounds with songs like "Quando, Quando, Quando" and "Sway." 

However, the Canadian crooner is no stranger to creating hit records of his own, topping the charts with songs like "Haven't Met You Yet," "Home," "Everything" and "It's A Beautiful Day."

These days, Bublé isn't just writing and singing about love, he is living it on a daily basis. The successful singer went from the son of a fisherman to an international phenomenon.

With support from his wife and four children, Bublé continues to make fans swoon with songs like "When I Fall in Love." Even now, he continues to perform live with tours like the Higher Tour, as well as appearing for guest performances. When he's not giving back to fans in the form of his talents, Bublé is helping various charities and co-owning the Vancouver Giants hockey team.
