Buckingham Palace has told CNN that Meghan is in the early stages of labor. The soon-to-be proud parents previously announced that they would be keeping their birth plans private and would announce further details on the birth when they felt ready.

The child will become seventh in line to the throne, ahead of Prince Andrew and behind his father, Prince Harry.

The birth of their first child comes nearly a year after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were married in May 2018. Kensington Palace officially announced their pregnancy October 15, 2018.

The announcement followed shortly after speculation that Markle’s outfit at the wedding of Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank was an attempt to hide a baby bump.

Baby Sussex will also make history as the first British-American with dual citizenship and the first multi-racial baby born into the royal family.
