Man Thinks He Finds Lamb On The Road, Only To Discover It's A Rare And Adorable Albino Baby Deer

A truck driver in California was taken off guard when he came across an unusual looking white animal while out on the road.

According to the Dodo, at first glance, the man thought he was looking at a lamb. But when he got closer, he realized the animal was actually a fawn awash in pure white fur. It turned out that the fawn is an albino, giving it its snowy white features.

While most fawns will gradually begin to lose their distinguishing white spots as they grow older, this particular deer will always remain white because of its albinoism.

What is also surprising is that this fawn was found without its mother. The deer is estimated to be only three weeks old, making it extremely vulnerable to danger.

Fortunately, a team of wildlife rehabilitators has stepped in to help the fawn. Given the name Spirit, the fawn is definitely in good hands. As the president of the animal shelter, Diane Nicholas said that the goal is to take care of Spirit until she can survive on her own.

It will take about six months before Spirit is ready to be released back into the wild. Part of the training process will include teaching Spirit how to find her own food in the wilderness and socialize with other deer. Spirit is lucky that she was found and can now learn to survive in her natural habitat.
