Mama Beagle Sees Her Puppies Fighting And Halts It With One Look

Jul 04, 2020

Everyone knows "the look" –the stern glare your mother gives you when you're doing something that you specifically know you shouldn't. However, we aren't sure puppies are used to it – not from their biological mothers.

One mother beagle proved that even dog moms have "the look" that tells their children that they need to stop their fighting and behave. As soon as mom came over, their roughhousing stopped. Both puppies looked immediately remorseful, because who wants to make mom mad?

Realistically speaking, puppies are often incredibly hyperactive. For such small creatures, they have an extraordinary amount of energy and seem to be able to keep going for hours. Some puppies are a bit more mellow, however, and prefer to limit their playtime in favor of naps and comfortable lounging. That's perfectly fine, in most cases–but not when one of your brothers wants to play.

The owner of the mother and her children caught the incident on camera, and it couldn't be more adorable. From what we can tell, the owner was simply trying to get some good footage of the puppies, moving backward, and having them follow. The puppy in the front sits down when the owner stops moving, and you can tell by the look in his eyes he's pretty tired.

Unfortunately for our first puppy, the puppy in the back of the video has decided it is time to play. Puppies, when they're young, have to learn how to communicate and read the body language of other animals. It's an important part of growing up and is a skill that mom usually helps teach. The puppy in the background came running over to his brother, clearly excited and ready to play.

Our first puppy was having none of it. When the second puppy jumped up, nipping at his brother's ear, the first puppy tried to scoot out of the way. Playful brother, however, was insistent they would roll around. Tired brother was clearly rather frustrated, but tried to play a little bit in return and gave his brother a warning nip. It was as if he was saying, "Hey, you gotta chill. Let's go take a nap." We all know that feeling.

Playful brother didn't understand, however, and continued trying to jump and play with his very sleepy brother. Within a few seconds, sleepy brother starts growling, and you can tell he's getting frustrated. We can't blame him–no one really likes to be bothered when all they want is a nap. While the frustration was obvious, the two weren't being overly aggressive, but we can tell they needed to be separated.

That's when mom swooped in to put them in their place. She runs over, clearly concerned about the growling. When she finds the two puppies fighting, she looks both of them directly in the eyes with what we could only describe as the famous "mom glare." Instantly, the two brothers stopped fighting. The playful puppy even started to cry, cuddling up to his mom and asking for forgiveness.

Much like humans, dogs have a range of emotions. This includes happiness, sadness, playfulness, and, in the case of this mom beagle, disappointment. But mom clearly knows what she's doing when it comes to this whole parenting thing. It took her no time to put her puppies in their place. We doubt they'll try that one again anytime soon.

Let us know what you thought of the video! Did you see the look of disappointment in the mama dog's eyes? Or, like us, are you simply jealous that a mom beagle has a better "mom glare" than you do?
