Kindergarten Teacher Chops Off Hair In Solidarity To Little Girl Being Teased in Her Class

Feb 19, 2019

Teachers are certainly a special breed of people. One teacher took her responsibilities to educate one step beyond what was expected of her.

Shannon Grimm is a kindergarten teacher at Meador Elementary School in Willis, Texas. Grimm was disheartened when she noticed that some of her students were teasing a little girl in her class about her short haircut. 5-year-old Prisilla Perez had been repeatedly teased about her pixie cut and Grimm knew that she needed to do more than just discipline the offenders.

The teasing became so intense that Perez began wearing a hat to school. She said she would cry because school was not even fun because of all of the bullying.

Grimm's heart could not handle seeing her student being upset. So over winter break, the sweet teacher cut her waist-long hair to match Perez's short cut.

When the teacher returned to school in 2019, she looked just like Perez. Grimm wanted to show the kids that she could look beautiful even with short hair and that style does not have to be restricted to a cut only for boys.

Willis Independent School District presented Perez with the coveted award of student of the month on February 11, 2019. Perez then turned around and gave her teacher the medal, calling her a hero.

Grimm took the opportunity to share her story as a video on Facebook. She explained how she wanted to teach her students that they are beautiful regardless of their outward appearance.

This amazing teacher is certainly deserving of the medal presented by Perez. The lesson that she imparts on everyone should be spread to as many people as possible. After you have watched her video, be sure to spread the message to everyone else that you know so that we can all learn from Grimm's stellar example.
