Keith Urban Allows Luke Combs To Steal His Show At Nashville

Dec 06, 2022

Country music singer Keith Urban is a legend in his own right. Originally born in New Zealand, Urban has been making waves internationally ever since he landed in Nashville, Tennessee, in the early 1990s. Beloved for his music, he’s also shown himself to be a kind and generous person who seems to always have a positive attitude, which has made him incredibly popular with his fans.

His parents supported his early interest in the art form, and they even let him try the ukulele and play the guitar at six years old. Notably, his father, who owned a convenience store at the time, put up a poster to scour the neighborhood for a guitar teacher to help his son.

On top of his stellar music career, Urban is also married to iconic Australian actress Nicole, making them one of Hollywood’s most beloved Australian couples.

Because of the pandemic, many live music events were put on hold for the past two years. Now, artists and musicians like Urban have started touring the world again as health protocols continue to ease up.

On the road for his “The Speed of Now” World Tour, Urban had been touring the United States since May 2022, capping off Nov. 4, 2022, in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Urban’s concerts this year had been full of surprises, from jamming with the audience to a touching interaction with his fans, the public thought that the Grammy-winning singer couldn’t have pulled any more tricks up his sleeve anymore.

But, to their surprise, on Oct. 7, 2022, Urban pulled out a surprise guest that Nashville wouldn’t have thought would possibly happen.

Urban, a former “American Idol” judge, released his debut self-titled album in 1991 and moved to the United States the following year, finding his footing in the country music industry. Some of his most well-known songs include “You’ll Think of Me,” “You Look Good in My Shirt,” and “Sweet Thing.” Fans worldwide love his heartfelt music.

Urban is considered a fixture in country and country rock music, which is why he is widely considered an inspiration by younger generations of artists in the music industry.

On Oct. 7, 2022, Urban surprised the entire Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, with his surprise guest – a country music superstar.

80 minutes into his performance, Urban suddenly introduced Luke Combs, one of the most highly sought-out newer country music performers of our current time, sending the whole stadium into wild cheer when the singer actually took to the stage.

Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Combs was a football player when he attended AC Reynolds Highschool and became part of multiple vocal groups.

Notably, as a child, he performed a solo at Carnegie Hall. He then attended Appalachian State University, where he worked as a bar bouncer while also working onstage as a performer. He then dropped out in his senior year to further pursue his country music career in Nashville, Tennessee.

In 2017, Combs released his debut album, “This One’s For You,” which launched at the No. 4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, cementing his breakthrough in the music industry.

Urban and Combs had not collaborated before the latter’s appearance on “The Speed of Now” tour, which is why everyone was surprised to see them both together onstage.

“There was a running theme for our show in Nashville: BROADWAY TO THE BIG TIME. Our special guests for the evening highlighted that journey, representing those playing on Lower Broadway right now, night after night, to those headlining Nissan stadium,” Urban said in a post on his Instagram account, along with video snippets of him jamming with Combs on stage.

Urban introduced Combs to the crowd, but after a quick chat onstage, they both sang Comb’s “When It Rains It Pours.” The crowd’s reception to the duo was amazing. They were shocked that a duet of two country music superstars would actually happen that evening. Afterward, they sang Urban’s “We Were Us,” with Combs singing the Eric Church parts on the recorded version of the song.

“@lukecombs thank you sooooo much for coming out to sing a couple of songs with us on your weekend off !!! We love ya,” Urban further said

Fans are incredibly thrilled to see both of them performing, especially with Urban sharing the limelight with much younger artists.

“It’s incredible how much you can see Keith wanting to shine a light on so many talented artists!” a fan said in a comment.

“Power house!!! The perfect duo to brake [sic] the sound barrier,” another commented

Aside from Combs, Ingrid Andress and Tyler Hubbard also accompanied Urban in the same Nashville show. His wife, Kidman, also graced the show at one point, hugging her husband and giving a “get back to work” comment – surely, watching Luke Combs live is an experience to remember!
