The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has been married to Prince William since 2011 and as part of her royal duties, she has to attend formal events dressed in perfect attire. Jewelry plays no small part, and in order to present herself as a member of the royal family, she is able to borrow from the royal collection.

State dinners and even casual outings are perfect occasions to wear a varied array of pieces from the royal collection owned by the Queen. Kate has a classic style and she knows how to top off an outfit with some elegant sparkle. Her eye can pick out just the right thing for what she is wearing that day.

It all started off with the royal wedding where Kate wore the Cartier Halo tiara, which was a gift to the Queen on her 18th birthday, reports Popsugar. It is bedazzled in approximately a thousand diamonds, in a curlicue motif.

A source told Grazia Daily that the Queen has no problem loaning what Kate requires for big occasions. They also said that Kate has befriended Angela Kelly, the palace staffer who is charge of the collection and loans.

Now it has been a few years of the practice and over time, Kate has reportedly borrowed up to two million pounds worth of classic and contemporary royal jewelry, as reported by The Express.
