The two artists first worked together in 2000 when they sang “There For Me” on Brightman’s La La World Tour. The performance was also included on the DVD release of the concert. A few years later, in 2007, the two teamed up again for a stunning performance of a classic song from “The Phantom of the Opera” soundtrack, “All I Ask of You.” They performed the gorgeous track together at the Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium in London, England, on July 1, 2007, in front of a huge audience, including members of the royal family.

All I Ask of You” is one of the most famous songs from “The Phantom of the Opera,” which was typically performed by Brightman and Steve Barton, who played the characters of Christine Daae and Raoul. With the piano at the forefront of the composition, it is an operatic pop piece of music that serves as a dialogue between the two characters as they discuss their commitment to one another and their romantic relationship. The Broadway musical is darkly beautiful in nature, and the mix of the characters’ voices in this song especially helps to highlight the themes and motifs of the show.

Brightman took her talents and expertise in the art to a different level when she performed “All I Ask of You” with Groban at a benefit concert in honor of Princess Diana, appropriately titled Concert for Diana. A handful of other well-known and incredible artists performed at the benefit show, including Elton John, Duran Duran and Take That. Brightman and Groban opted to perform together to showcase the beautiful blend of their voices as they carried out their own rendition of the classic Broadway duet.

Dressed to the nines, Groban wore a clean black tux while Brightman opted for a delicate white dress, as they performed just like the characters of “The Phantom of the Opera,” sans the Phantom’s mask. The juxtaposition of their voices was astonishing as Groban’s deep voice bellowed throughout the stadium and Brightman’s bright vocals soared through the crowd. Their passion and dedication made for a powerful and captivating performance.
