“Full House” was a highly loved American sitcom that was on television from 1987 to 1995. Over the course of the series, fans were able to watch the characters – and many of the stars who played them – grow up. The show followed widowed father Danny Tanner, played by the late Bob Saget, seeking help from his brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis and Joey Gladstone, played by John Stamos and Dave Coulier, respectively.

Together, they raised Danny’s three daughters: D.J., Stephanie and Michelle Tanner. While Candace Cameron took on the role of the eldest daughter, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen teamed up to play Michelle together, and Jodie Sweetin played the role of Stephanie.

Sweetin was born on Jan. 19, 1982, in Los Angeles, California. When she was still extremely young, Sweetin began appearing in several television commercials and small guest roles before being cast as Stephanie in 1987.

The series was a massive success and helped show families ways to cope with grief, learn from their mistakes and find new and fun ways to bond together. It was such a success that it even launched a sequel series more than 20 years later called “Fuller House,” with the majority of the main cast members returning. The sequel series ended in 2020.

Although Sweetin may not be on-screen with the Tanner family anymore, she now has a family of her own. She has been married to her husband, Mescal Wasilewski, since July 2022. In 2023, Sweetin explained how perfect the wedding was, including her dress, which happened to be the very first one she tried on.

Sweetin encountered several hardships following her time on “Full House,” including three failed marriages and substance abuse issues. According to E! News, she was out of work for many years following her time on the sitcom, aside from a few jobs here and there, and the actress fell into a downward spiral, resulting in her going in and out of rehab many times. Fortunately, she has found a path to sobriety and is now an advocate for recovery.

Sweetin has continued to act and appear in TV programs. She also competed on shows such as “Dancing with the Stars,” “Worst Cooks in America,” “Beyond the Edge” and on the second season of “Name That Tune.”

In 2021, she starred in the romantic comedy “Just Swipe,” which showcases online dating during unprecedented times. According to TODAY, Sweetin has a happy love story in her real life as well, as she became engaged to her partner, Mescal Wasilewski, in January 2022. The pair married on July 30, 2022. According to CNN, this was Sweetin’s fourth marriage. She was married to Shaun Holguin from 2002 to 2006, Cody Herpin from 2007 to 2010 and to Morty Coyle from 2012 to 2016.

Sweetin uploaded a heartwarming Instagram post to commemorate the special occasion. In the post, she wrote, “I love you Mescal, for always. You’re my person. I can’t wait to see the life that lies ahead for us.”

Talking more about her recent engagement, the actress said, “It’s wonderful.” Sweetin’s family also approves. She explained, “My kids love him. My parents love him. We have a really great little family dynamic here.”

Whenever someone gets married, it’s common for them to want everything to be absolutely perfect. For many brides, this means finding the perfect wedding dress. While most brides try on anywhere from a handful of dresses to even hundreds, Sweetin said she only tried on one, and she happily said yes to the dress!

Sweetin said that a few designers offered to design her dress, but by then, she only had 75 days until the wedding, so she needed to find something off the rack. She went to Lili Bridals, the same shop that was used for a wedding dress in “Fuller House.” Sweetin’s daughter Zoie Herpin was the one who found what ended up being her dress.

“Zoie was the one that picked it off the rack, and it was the first one I tried on, and it was stunning and gorgeous,” Sweetin explained. “It was the first dress I tried on and it needed alterations as far as the hem, just because it’s long, but everything else was like just a little bit here and there. It was, like, perfect.”

In August 2022, Sweetin posted several beautiful photos from her wedding day. She wrote in the post’s caption, “I kinda can’t stop thinking about this day…”

There’s no doubt that Sweetin was ecstatic with her dress choice but is even happier with her choice of a lifelong partner. She told PEOPLE:

"Mescal makes me feel absolutely comfortable and secure to shine as bright as I need to. He steps up and shows up for my girls. And we harmonize so well. He's really the best teammate I could ask for."
