Jennifer Lopez Makes Fun Of Herself For Her Four Marriages

Jan 23, 2024

A-list celebrity couples are always fun to keep up with, and one of the quintessential pairs is Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, also known by the portmanteau “Bennifer.” The term is one of the first instances of a couple’s names being used this way.

Both artists are known for their illustrious careers. Affleck is an actor and filmmaker, while Lopez is a singer and actress. The two met in 2001 on the set of the film “Gigli.” They began dating in 2002 and were engaged to be married in 2003. But sadly, their wedding was postponed, and then the pair decided to split in 2004.

After their breakup in 2004, they went on to marry other people. Lopez married Marc Anthony the same year she and Affleck split; however, they divorced in 2014. Meanwhile, Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005, and they were together until 2018.

In 2021, after Lopez and Affleck became single again, they decided to get back together. Lopez confirmed they were dating in a social media post in July of that year. And just one year later, in July 2022, Bennifer finally tied the knot and officially became husband and wife. After their union, the couple moved in together and started a blended family with their children from their previous marriages.

Before Lopez and Affleck settled together, the singer had previously gotten married to different men, which she wasn’t afraid to make fun of through her music and the visuals of one of her songs. Read below about how the musician was able to laugh off her past relationships.

Jennifer Lopez has been in the public eye for decades now, and the public has witnessed almost all of her relationships and marriages.

According to an article published by Woman and Home in 2022, JLo was first married to Ojani Noa, a former actor and producer who eventually shifted his career into personal training. The ex-couple was married only for a year, from 1997 to 1998.

Although Noa and Lopez’s romance didn’t last, it appeared that they continued their friendship later on as the actress hired him as a restaurant manager of her restaurant in 2002.

Her next marriage was with Cris Judd. The List reported that the then-couple first met on the set of her music video for the track “Love Don’t Cost a Thing.”

Initially, they kept their relationship away from the public eye, but they eventually made their red carpet debut at the Oscars.

In 2001, the pair got engaged, and many people thought they would delay the wedding because of Lopez’s tight schedule, but little did they know that they were able to pull off a ceremony in over three months.

They tied the knot in September 2001 in front of 170 guests, who received invitations in person just the day before and had to undergo two security checkpoints before they entered the secret location.

Unfortunately, their marriage didn’t last either because less than a year after they got married, the two quietly split, and Lopez filed for divorce.

Prior to her marriage to Ben Affleck, Lopez got married to Marc Anthony in 2004, but after ten years of their union, the couple decided to split in 2014.

In January 2024, Lopez released the first single titled “Can’t Get Enough” off her new album “This Is Me…Now.”

The singer/actress appeared to reference all of her marriages in the music video as it was set in a lavish wedding ceremony. Lopez, who wore a revealing wedding dress, declared her love for her first partner in the video, played by Tony Bellissimo, and both of them shared the usual line in weddings: “Till death do us part” before kissing each other.

Regardless of how the guests expressed their dislike about the union, they didn’t care and danced their way down the aisle into the reception, but before the two even had a great time with each other, a second groom appeared in the form of Derek Hough.

The guests were surprised as they busted out their ballroom skills and spun around the dancefloor as Lopez wore a new wedding dress.

For the last time, another groom, played by Trevor Jackson, stepped in during a seated dinner. Then Lopez threw her bouquet as part of the wedding tradition.

At first, the singer appeared to be having a great time as they had a cake fight, but she later stopped and realized something. Then the scene changed, and she sat down as different voices echoed in her head.

Before the music video was released, she spoke to Variety about the song where she noted that it “might surprise some people.”

She then made fun of herself regarding her previous unions, as she said: “I am somewhat of an expert you could say in a weird way. Not so much about marriage but about weddings.”

When asked about her husband Ben Affleck’s reaction to the video, she said: “He sees me as an artist. He knows that I’m going to express myself.”
