Groomer Arrested After Breaking Service Dog's Tail After She "Wouldn't Sit Still"

Mar 25, 2019

Any dog lover will tell you there is no animal that bonds as well with humans as a dog. Dogs are both loyal and noble creatures that have earned the title of man's best friend. Their intelligence makes them ideal for use as service animals and they are great companions for people with mental and emotional disabilities.

According to WKMG, one German Shephard, an eight-year-old named TT has been excellent in his role as a therapy dog. He is a live-in friend to a service veteran who struggle with PTSD. A recent horrible experience left this sweet dog with a broken tail to go along with a broken heart.

TT was taken to Groomingdales Pet Spa to enjoy a grooming treatment. While at the spa, the dog was beaten and treated with total disrespect. Groomingdales is located in Satellite Beach.

James Cordell Doughty Suthann was the thirty-seven-year-old pet spa employee responsible for TT's injury. The employee beat TT because the dog wouldn't sit still. The one good thing about this story is that the man was fired from his job and arrested for cruelty to animals.

The video surveillance camera in the building shows Suthann holding TT's head in a violent manner. The man then grabbed the dog's tail and lifted her from the ground. The assault left TT with a broken tail that eventually resulted in an amputation. Doctors tried to save the dog's tale but the injuries made it impossible to do so. Suthann also hit the dog over the head with a hose used for bathing pets at the spa.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey saw the video. He said it was one of the worst things he had seen during his 39 years in law enforcement.

“The entire incident is captured on video and at one point you see Suthann cinch the pets head down so tight that the dog could no longer move and was obviously in pain,” Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said on Facebook.

TT is healing from her wounds and is trying to recover from the trauma she experienced.

The sheriff was unhappy that the maximum bond amount that could be given to $2,000.

The owners of the salon were disturbed once they saw the video and says they did not know what kind of person they hired.

There is no excuse for treating a loving animal with such cruelty. Hopefully, TT will be able to put the horrible experience behind her and continue to excel in her role as a service dog for the owner who loves her.
