Golden Retriever Puppy Loses His Hold When He Meets Baby Goat

Dec 31, 2020

Children are often known to make up friends. Their friends can range from the extraordinary, such as knights and aliens, to the every day, such as inanimate objects and toys. Baby animals also make interesting friends. This is definitely the case, for one baby goat and a golden retriever puppy who hit it off from their very first meeting and look like they will become the best of friends.

As humans, we love watching videos of baby animals. By far the best kind of baby animal videos are ones with pets and farm animals, and this one manages to combine both!

Be sure to reach the end of this article to see the full video :-)

Luckily for all of us, the owner of these adorable animals, Sean Cadden, managed to capture their first meeting in a video. It is an absolute joy to see the two baby animals get to know each other.

In the video we see the goat get let into the puppy’s pen. He is looking a little apprehensive at first but soon warms to the baby goat. The encounter starts off with a quick nose boop. After their initial encounter, the baby goat wanders around a little, sniffing and nose bumping what she can see as she explores its surroundings.

While the goat wanders around, the puppy waits patiently in its cozy bed. His paws are resting over the edge in anticipation. The goat soon gets bored of exploring, and with a little hop, makes her way back to the puppy, greeting him with a nose boop on the puppy’s paws.

The goat then tries to get into the puppy’s bed, and it looks like she wanted some snuggle time! Unfortunately, the puppy wasn’t having any of it as he would much rather play a game than have a nap. The puppy leaps out of its bed and bounds after the goat following her around their owner’s legs and back into their pen. The little goat sniffs the puppy. Then the puppy sniffs the goat back. This is how they started their communication.

You can see how excited the doggo is as his tail is wagging super fast. We can imagine how thrilling it must be to have a new buddy to play with. The goat is also excited, and she demonstrates this by also wagging her little tail. It’s at this point that the dog loses it. He starts to run back and forth between a cushion on the floor and the playpen, watching in anticipation for the little goat to join in.

At the speed he is running at, his paws can’t help but slip on the shiny wooden floor. The goat tries to get behind the dog’s bed, maybe to lie down, or maybe just because she was curious to see what was back there. The golden retriever takes this as an invitation to start playing again and starts his crazy running routine. Even though the goat doesn’t quite get it at first, the puppy sure is enjoying himself.

The goat could be a little confused as to the pup’s eagerness, because she is only four days old, whereas the puppy is four months old. Being the oldest, the puppy is definitely the leader in this friendship. We’re sure in time they will become equals, the pair are the same brilliant creamy white color—they are even matching best friends!

It is great to watch baby animals of the same species interacting together, and it is just as enjoyable watching baby animals of different species interacting together. You just never know how it’ll turn out! This one has a lovely happy ending, and we have no doubt that they will grow up to be the best of friends, and maybe the goat will get its own game going when it starts the classic goat headbutting.

The happy puppy continues to cavort around the room. At one point we hear the owner say ‘oh!’ when the dog knocks into the goat, but the goat takes it in her stride. A couple of times she loses its grip on the floor and her hooves slide across the ground making it look like it's doing a little yoga stretch. Maybe a downward dog? She soon recovers and gets back upright, though.

The puppy also lets out a welcoming whine and bark, as if he’s asking the goat to play with him. Animals make great companions for humans, especially dogs as they have a natural connection and can be trained by their owners. They are naturally friendly and loving.

The two animals are equally as enthralled with one another. The pair’s friendship seems to grow stronger the more time they spend together. The dog continues to make a sweet squeal and bark to let the goat know how happy it is, and to keep the communication flowing.

According to dogtime.com, the golden retriever is one of the most popular dog breeds in the US. The website goes on to say: “These dogs are fairly easy to train and get along in just about any home or family. They’re great with kids and very protective of their humans. If you want a loyal, loving, and smart companion, consider adopting one of these pups into your pack.” We have clear evidence of this just by looking at this wonderful video.

Baby goats are called ‘kids.’ According to Four Paws International, “Goats are very intelligent and curious animals. Their inquisitive nature is exemplified in their constant desire to explore and investigate anything unfamiliar which they come across.” This shows it is totally in the goat’s nature to investigate the dog and its surroundings. The website goes on to say goats can “become depressed if they are separated or isolated from their companions.” This means that these two buddies will just have to stick together from now on! We’re sure they won’t mind in the slightest.

We know that dogs are a man’s best friend, but we think dogs and goats and any other cute animal could also be best friends. It is impossible to watch this meeting of two sweet creatures without a smile on your face. It may even cause a fair bit of laughter, which is something we can always do with!
