Girl Gently Sings Her New Rescue Puppy To Sleep

Sometimes the most touching of all moments happen when you least expect them. However, when these memory-shaping events occur, it isn't a surprise that they come on the heels of the actions of a child or an animal. When these two forces of total cuteness mesh together, the experience is heart-melting and tear-jerking.

Lauren Malone is a woman living in Connecticut with her young daughter, Katie. Feeling a bit lonely, the pair elected to brighten up their lives the way many others have decided in the past: adopting a fur baby into their lives.

The pair thought for days about what kind of dog would be best for them and where they would adopt it from. Eventually, they settled on adopting an American Labrador retriever. However, both were worried that the little pup might be scared of its new surroundings. What is a loving family to do in such circumstances?

The Malones eventually chose to adopt a dog named Oakley. Oakley was named for his unique fur pattern and particularly dark muzzle. Out of all the organizations that they petitioned, the American Lab Rescue was the one most fortunate to receive their patronage, reports HuffPost. The pair could barely contain their excitement as young Oakley was brought home.

After a long day of playing around the house and becoming acclimated to his new surroundings, it was obvious by evening that the pup was reaching the limits of his energy reserves. That's when his young friend decided it was time for a much-needed nap! Sweeping Oakley into her arms, the little girl began to rock him back and forth.

The American Lab looked almost like a newborn child; it was plain to see that there was a lot of tiredness in his eyes. Supported by both his lower back and his shoulders, Oakley didn't need to wait long until an adorable serenade began to lull him further into dreamland.

The lullaby, an instant classic, was sung perfectly by the smiling girl. She was barely able to focus on her mom filming the entire event; in the warm sun, she rocked her new family member to sleep in the most comfortable of ways possible. The dog's face eventually becomes totally smooshed against the petite girl's upper body!

Oakley is plainly out, but the gal keeps up the lullaby as if to place a proper seal over the slumber. She refined her petting to gentle strokes, and her own beaming smile couldn't be resisted. Though this was only the beginning of their relationship, she promised to deliver Oakley a truckload of cuddles, kisses, pets, and naps! The grin of excitement from hours earlier was slowly replaced with a smile of contentment as he drifted off into a deep slumber.

Since the video has been posted to the Internet, it has since gone totally viral. Tens of thousands of people have clicked the video time and again to see the touching interactions between man and beast. Many commenters noted how gentle and innocent the girl was as she sang her little baby to sleep. Some thought that it was clear evidence that she would make a great mother to a human baby once she grew up.

Lauren Malone herself posted, "this is why it's a good idea to adopt a dog...or two...or three!" It was clear from that moment on to all watching that Oakley would be living a truly blessed life!
