Duchess Kate Middleton's Morning Routine Revealed: The Habits She Begins Her Day With

Jul 20, 2021

Kate Middleton has been in the spotlight for well over the 10 years she's been married to Prince Wiliam, having grown up in a well-to-do family that was adjacent to the British aristocracy due to her father's ties. Ever since becoming a fixture in the press and eventually William's wife, the public has seen the Duchess of Cambridge mature into the woman she is today — from her early 20s as a student and the beginning of her romance with William to more recent times in which she's become one of the most prominent working royals.

Known for being incredibly poised and classy, she constantly showcases her beauty and grace with everything from her impeccable sense of style to her smart mannerisms and attitude. It's no surprise that she's become a true style icon of the modern age as well as a dearly loved member of the royal family.

Middleton is also a busy working mother who is raising her and William's three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. On top of spending time with her family and completing official work duties, which often include extensive traveling, Middleton is also a budding amateur photographer. She often shares her snaps to the Cambridges official Instagram account and has even made it a tradition to share at least one new photo of each of her children on their birthdays. She's truly a modern renaissance woman.

Therefore it's unsurprising to learn that Middleton has a detailed morning routine that helps keep her ready for the day and in tip-top shape. Let's take a look at how the royal gets her day started.

The Duchess's Healthy Breakfast

Food is the fuel our bodies need, so with Kate Middleton's busy schedule, it's no wonder she makes sure she has a good breakfast before her day gets started. The Daily Mail reported in 2016 that Middleton starts her day with a smoothie that consists of kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, cilantro, spirulina (a kind of algae), matcha (a green tea powder) and blueberries.

The source also said that she has a second smoothie in the afternoon too. Additionally, she's known to eat oatmeal in the morning, which is another very healthy option as oats are well known for slowly releasing energy.

And while the duchess has sweet cravings like the rest of us, rather than giving in to chocolate and candy to satiate her sweet tooth she instead mixes berries with almond milk in a blender. She also "adores salads and bowls of seasonal fruits," according to the insider.

Another aspect of her diet that not only helps to keep her trim but also active and performing at her best is the fact that she isn't a big alcohol drinker. The same source told the Daily Mail, "A 6pm glass of brutally chilled Chardonnay is sufficient."

Her Daily Workout

It's no secret that Middleton's physique is incredibly toned and that she looks stunning in anything that she wears. Well, on top of a healthy diet, the duchess is incredibly active and loves working out, especially in the mornings before her day is filled with work and later, family time. A keen sportswoman, Middleton has shown off her skills at everything from her early loves of field hockey and rowing, to more recent activities such as skiing.

However, when it comes to her daily exercise regimen, the duchess keeps things simple. The same feature from the Daily Mail reports that she loves to practice "calisthenics and aerobic exercise, skipping, indoor rowing and intense interval training" daily for one hour, as well as use her beloved Swiss gym ball, which helps to keep her stomach toned.

She also loves to do the plank exercise. The maneuver involves holding a position similar to a push-up, in which one rests on their forearms and tiptoes for the maximum amount of time that they can. There are various versions of the plank and all of them are known to be a great core workout that strengthens the back, shoulders and abs. Additionally, Middleton loves to wind down with yoga and pilates too.

Middleton's School Runs

To complete her morning routine, the doting mother of three ensures she can drop her children off at school whenever she's able to. Although the family has nannies at their disposal, it's not uncommon to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dropping their elder children George and Charlotte off at their school, Thomas's Battersea

In fact, it's so common that the Cambridge parents do the school run themselves, that literally one day after giving birth to Prince Louis, Middleton took Prince George to school herself, according to the Daily Mail.

Whether it's staying healthy by eating well and getting her exercise in, or ensuring she's around to witness her kids grow up, it can't be denied that Middleton is doing an incredible job of looking after herself both physically and emotionally.
