Dr. Phil's Son Jordan Is The Hunkiest Man Alive Today

Apr 09, 2021

Dr. Phil needs no introduction. Ever since the psychologist first got his start on television after appearing on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," audiences have fallen in love with his pragmatic approach to human psychology and his endearing personality. So it only made perfect sense that he got his own show titled "Dr. Phil" in 2002. Ever since Dr. Phil has continued to educate his audience while stealing their hearts with his charm.

His show has even introduced the world to his beloved family including his wife Robin McGraw, as well as his two sons Jay McGraw and Jordan McGraw. Robin is an author and has become a well-loved part of "Dr. Phil," lending her female opinion on topics of discussion.

Meanwhile, Dr. Phil's sons have both chosen careers in the entertainment industry — which, considering their father is both a professional psychologist and a show business icon, they're still following in his footsteps. Jay is a writer and television producer, while Jordan is a musician.

It's clear why Jordan, who is younger, has opted for a career in front of the spotlight — he's incredibly handsome and just as charismatic as his dad. He's obviously received some of the best qualities from both of his parents.

In 2020, Jordan got married to his fiance Morgan Stewart McGraw and in February of this year, the couple had their first child together, a baby girl named Row Renggli McGraw. Active in his music career and on social media, Jordan's star is only rising, and he is certainly one to watch.

Phillip Calvin McGraw is better known to the world as Dr. Phil. The medical professional and television personality was born on Sep. 1, 1950, in Vinita, Oklahoma. According to Biography, Dr. Phil was a college football player (a linebacker) at the University of Tulsa who went on to earn his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of North Texas. Dr. Phil's own father had aspirations of becoming a psychologist and followed them, which likely inspired Dr. Phil on his own path to the profession. After he had graduated, he even joined his father at the private psychology practice the elder McGraw had started.

Dr. Phil was a private practitioner before starting a self-motivation seminar called Pathways, also in collaboration with his father and a Texas businesswoman named Thelma Box. The seminars gave "experience-based training" that allowed "individuals to achieve and create their own results." By 1991, however, Dr. Phil sold his share of the company and focused on another company he had co-created around the same time called Courtroom Sciences, Inc. (CSI).

Through CSI he was hired to assist Oprah Winfrey in 1996 during her trial for being sued by cattlemen who had claimed that she defamed the beef industry on one of her episodes. Dr. Phil was successful in helping her win the case in 1998 and it led him to become a regular guest expert on Oprah’s talk show. Appearing weekly as a relationship and life strategy expert, Dr. Phil quickly became a beloved guest on Oprah's show and four years later in 2002, he branched out and started his own show named "Dr. Phil."

His show "Dr. Phil" became so successful that it racked up the highest ratings of any new program in 16 years since "The Oprah Winfrey Show." According to IMDb, it has garnered 37 nominations for TV awards, including Daytime Emmys, however, it has not won any. The show is an advice show that sees Dr. Phil introduced to a new group of guests each episode, as he learns about the challenging situations they are going through, and ultimately offers his advice to them, with his psychology background laying the foundation for his knowledge.

The popularity of "Dr. Phil" boomed and by 2008, it was the second-most-popular talk show second only to "The Oprah Winfrey Show." The show is still running after 18 seasons and in 2019 was the top syndicated show, while in 2020 it was the highest-rated talk show.

The great reception of the show led Dr. Phil to create spinoff series from his own show. While some weren't very popular, one spinoff about a group of varied medical professionals named "The Doctors" proved to be a hit with audiences and is still running today after 13 seasons.

Despite having worked as a professional psychologist for much of his life, in 2006 Dr. Phil stopped renewing his license and does not presently practice psychology. His incredible success in the entertainment world clearly became a bigger goal of his, as with his show he has the potential to reach more people than he can on an individual level. Since "Dr. Phil" is a talk show format, he reveals quite a bit about himself on there, which allows him to establish a personal connection to his viewers.

One aspect of Dr. Phil's personal life that the public has been lucky to witness is his strong sense of family. Whether it's on his television show or scrolling through his Instagram account, Dr. Phil's family plays a prominent role in his life, confirming the close bond he shares with them.

Most prominently is his wife Robin McGraw, who is in fact Dr. Phil's second wife. His first wife was a woman named Debbie Higgins McCall, whom he married in 1970 when he was 20. But their union wasn't meant to last, and while they were in the process of ending their marriage in 1973, Dr. Phil met Robin. The couple was then married in 1976.

Robin is a #1 New York Times best-selling author who has written many books, particularly on women's topics. She often appears on "Dr. Phil" and is valued for her input when her husband is giving advice to guests. She's even become a media personality in her own right, extending Dr. Phil's fame and popularity to include his family.

The couple had their first child in 1979, a son named Jay McGraw, who works as a writer and television producer. Jay created the production company Stage 29 Productions with his father, and serves as the executive producer on "Dr. Phil." Jay, who is now 42, is married to former model Erica Dahm, and together the couple has two children, making Dr. Phil and Robin grandparents. If you can imagine how important family is for the McGraws when it comes to their own children, imagine them as grandparents!

Jay and Erica's children are Avery McGraw, who was born in 2010, and London McGraw, who was born in 2011. As fate would have it, London McGraw was born on Aug. 31, 2011, just a day before Dr. Phil’s birthday. Therefore, the couple gave him the middle name "Phillip” after his famous grandfather. When London was born, there was probably no one more excited than Dr. Phil. He tweeted at the time:

"What a Bday! London Phillip McGraw arrived!! 7lbs13oz. Mtr & baby doing fine. They BARELY made it to hospital in time! BARELY? We are so blessed."

Family is clearly of the utmost importance in the McGraw household, but it appears to come naturally and from a place of love. We're sure Dr. Phil was elated at his grandson having such a close birthday to him and sharing his name.

Speaking with "People" on his grandparenting style, Dr. Phil told the magazine in 2011, “I plan to be the typical doting grandfather that gets to do all the fun stuff and none of the tough stuff.” That sounds like a typical grandparent response to us!

In 2016, Dr. Phil appeared as a guest on "The Rachael Ray Show," which was interesting as he is usually on the other side of the couch doing the interviews and not the other way around. In the episode, he talked lovingly about Avery and London, how similar they are to him, and even shared photos of them with the audience. It was moving to see him open up in such a personal way.

In September 2020, in commemoration of National Grandparents Day, grandma Robin posted a collage of six pictures of Avery and London standing side by side in various outfits including superhero costumes and their school uniforms. The two looked adorable with their beaming smiles and eyes. She captioned the post

“OMG it's National Grandparents Day! How adorable are these two?! They have been posing like this for years! 😩❤️😍 I always say that being a grandparent is like entering the dessert phase of life. Phillip and I can't get enough of our sweet grandbabies!! #NationalGrandparentsDay”

Fans were quick to point out the resemblance that the children have to their granddad. One user wrote: “They are so cute! You can definitely see the McGraw in them ❤️” It's clear that Dr. Phil and Robin absolutely adore being grandparents and it's wonderful that they're sharing it with the world. Family is very important in the McGraw household and Dr. Phil and Robin definitely practice what they preach.

But their son Jay isn't the only child the couple has. Dr. Phil and Robin also have a second son named Jordan McGraw, who was born in 1986. And like his elder brother Jay, Jordan also followed his father into show business. But instead of working in television, Jordan is a musician, who was in a few bands before branching out on his own with a solo career. Considerably younger than Jay — the brothers have a seven-year age difference — Jordan is only in the early stages of his adult life and career.

Jordan got his start in music by playing in a band named Stars in Stereo, but he later decided to pursue his career as a solo artist. Ever the talented musician, Jordan is a multi-instrumentalist who can sing, play the guitar and the piano. The style of music he plays is pop-inflected rock music that has a lot of energy. Since 2017, Jordan has released a number of singles and EPs and continues to work on his music. He's toured with some big names in the music world including the Jonas Brothers and even recorded a duet with his friend, "Modern Family" actress Sarah Hyland.

Interestingly, he told "People" in 2019 that his dad influenced his musical taste while he was growing up. He said in a video interview that the McGraw household always had music playing at home, with favorites including rock band Led Zeppelin and the song "Dead Man's Curve" by Jan and Dean. Who knew that Dr. Phil was such a cool dad!?

Jordan's musical talents have even led him to be the music supervisor on "That Animal Rescue Show." Jordan also has a few television credits to his name on top of appearing on his father's show, so a career that goes beyond music could be in his future.

On top of his burgeoning music career, presently Jordan is choosing to focus on family — that is his own growing family. Jordan has a sweet love story with his now-wife, E! presenter and former "Rich Kids of Beverly Hills" star Morgan Stewart McGraw.

2020 was a big year for Jordan and Morgan. The couple went public with the news that they were dating in March of that year, before announcing their engagement in July. In December they got married in a very intimate ceremony with just family present. Not only did they take their relationship to the next level by getting married last year, but the couple also announced they were expecting their first child together!

At the time of their ceremony, Morgan was already pregnant with the couple's first child, which she announced on Instagram via a gender reveal video in August 2020, which Jordan also shared. Ever since, the couple posted photos that showed Morgan's growing baby bump, including their wedding photos, in which her belly was showing in full.

Finally, in February of this year, it was time for their little girl to arrive. Morgan announced the news via Instagram, posting a photo of her holding her daughter while still in hospital, with the caption

"Row Renggli McGraw just wanted me to quickly update you guys that after 30 hours, 27 apple juices, & 16 pushes later she decided to join our party! And she’s definitely the coolest girl I’ve ever met 🥰😍💕"

Jordan shared his own photo to his Instagram that shows him holding his newborn daughter. Since her birth, Morgan has shared a few photos of her and her tiny daughter, including one where she wrote, "The happiest month I’ve ever had." We can only imagine the love that Jordan and Morgan are experiencing right now, as they adjust to parenthood and we wish them all the best!
