Create Your Own Essential Oil Hair Mask

Do you know all the things that can mess with your hair health? Styling products, pollution, blow-drying, and UV rays all stress your tresses. There's an easy way to undo the damage: a DIY mask. A few simple ingredients will give you the soft, shiny hair you've always wanted.

1. Get your double boiler going or set up your DIY double boiler. The water should not touch the bottom of the bowl. Let the water boil and then add the coconut oil to the bowl.

2. When the coconut oil becomes liquid, add your chosen essential oils and mix them together. Remove the mixture from heat to let it cool and thicken.

3. When your hair is damp (hello, spray bottle!), comb the DIY mask through it. Gently now -- damp hair is easy to break.

4. Wrap a soft towel around your hair and leave the mask in. Anywhere from half an hour to a full hour will do.

5. Rinse out the mask and follow up with a gentle shampoo and conditioner.
