Fans of "Britain's Got Talent" were treated to an emotional performance recently when a contestant on the show delivered a tribute to his disabled brother.

Simon Cowell was moved to tears by contestant Mark McMullan's singing. Simon shook hands with both Mark's brother and his mother once the singer completed his rendition of Les Miserables' "Bring Him Home."

Mark lives in Newcastle and advanced to the second round with the performance. He told the judges that his older brother suffered an illness six years ago as a result of a brain injury.

Mark explained his brother survived the ordeal but now suffers from "locked-in syndrome." He is essentially trapped inside his body and can only hear the sounds around him. Mark says he uses his music as a tool to comfort his brother.

All three judges praised Mark's performance and many audience members were moved to tears.

Judge Amanda Holden complimented Mark on the tone and quality of his voice. She went on to say the song makes so much more sense when taking the singer's background into account. She wrapped her judging up by saying "It was beautifully done."

Simon added to the praise by saying Mark was able to add meaning to the song he had never considered. Simon continued his assessment by pointing out the tenderness Mark was able to produce with the song while showing vocal power in the song's second half.

Then, Simon went into the crowd to meet Mark's family once the singer left the stage.

Viewers at home were left as emotional as the audience members who were present in the building. One home viewer used social media to say Mark sang every word of the song with passion. The viewer also said it touched his heart to see Simon with Mark's mother and son.
