At 58, Mom Finds Inner Beauty Through Makeover After Ending Her 34-Year Marriage

May 24, 2023

Zorah, a mother to four children, has become an inspiration to many women after undergoing a life-changing transformation following the end of her 34-year marriage. The Yorkshire native had been tirelessly working as a care worker while also raising a family, but she found herself feeling lost and unappreciated by her husband.

After summoning the courage to leave him, Zorah embarked on a journey to rediscover herself. Her story reached a wider audience when she appeared on the popular makeover show, "10 Years Younger in 10 Days,” in 2021.

Before her makeover, the public perceived the mom as stressed-out, with tired-looking skin and sunken eyes. Her physical appearance made her look 67 years old when she was only in her late 50s. However, with the help of a team of experts, Zorah's appearance underwent a remarkable transformation that left viewers in awe.

The show introduced Zorah to a cosmetic dentist, a skin specialist, a hairdresser, and a stylist, all working together to bring out her natural beauty.

Dr. Uchenna Okoye, the cosmetic dentist, addressed Zorah's concerns about the gaps in her teeth, giving her a new smile that left her overwhelmed with joy. The hair loss specialist, Dr. Martin Galy, attributed her thinning hair to menopause and prescribed a treatment plan to help thicken it. With the help of the talented hairdresser, John Vial, Zorah's hair was transformed with extensions and microfiber spray, providing her with a fuller, more vibrant look.

Zorah also received a collagen rejuvenating treatment from cosmetic specialist Dr. Nilam Holmes to combat tired-looking eyes, which had been exacerbated by her lack of sleep. Stylist Gemma Sheppard provided Zorah with a fashionable athleisure wardrobe that allowed her to look stylish and comfortable at the same time.

Prior to the makeover, Zorah explained that she didn't have time to look after herself because she was taking care of her children. Her focus was on working and tending to her family.

"During my marriage, I did most of the looking after the children on my own," Zorah said. "It was very stressful. My husband wasn’t interested in me, but I just had to get on with it.”

When she mustered the courage to leave, Zorah admitted that it was not easy because she had lost her confidence. It was also during the lockdowns, and she had to isolate into a new world on her own.

"When I made the decision to leave my husband, it was the beginning of my second part of life," the mom stated. "I felt really sad and helpless. I seem to have lost connection to the world."

However, Zorah felt she had to make the most of her life after realizing that life is short. Thus, she agreed to become part of the makeover show.

The moment of truth arrived when Zorah finally saw her remarkable transformation. Overwhelmed with emotions, she couldn't hold back tears as she marveled at her reflection. She could not believe that the woman in the mirror was her.

Zorah's younger brother, who joined her on the show, was equally amazed at his sister. Overjoyed, he urged her to prioritize her own needs and well-being this time, as she had dedicated too much time to others.

Her inspiring story has touched the hearts of many, and it’s a strong reminder of the transformative power of self-care, courage, and the pursuit of personal happiness. Zorah is a testament to the fact that it's never too late to rediscover oneself and find fulfillment in life's second acts.
