Ashton Kutcher's Twin Brother Says The Actor Wanted To Donate His Heart To Save His Life

Jan 10, 2019

The love of a brother knows no bounds, at least not between Ashton Kutcher and his brother Michael. Ashton wanted to donate his own heart to save his brother.

Ashton Kutcher has a twin brother if you didn't already know that. Michael, Ashton's twin, lives with cerebral palsy. Back when the boys were 13 years old, Michael was extremely sick and on the brink of death because of cardiomyopathy. That's when Ashton revealed his desire to offer his twin the ultimate gift: his heart.

This gift proved to be unnecessary because Michael received the transplant from someone else. Today, Michael is 40 years old and has a 14-year-old son of his own. Michael cannot express the gratitude and love he has for his brother's never-changing support. In a recent interview, Michael couldn't find the word to describe the connection is forged.

He said the connection is very deep, based on appreciation and love for someone who would sacrifice so much as Ashton was willing to do. There are few words to express the connection. These days Michael is a keynote speaker, leading a campaign called #BeTheGift, focused on encouraging organ donation while supporting those waiting for transplants.

Michael told his twin he doesn't want to be pitied. Every time someone feels sorry for him, that person is making him feel less than he is. He is who he is for a reason. He experiences life the way he is supposed to. He sees his purpose as being an advocate for those living with disabilities and those awaiting organ donation.

It allows him to bring the issues forward, be outspoken, and use the platform for good.

While accepting an award in 2017, Ashton Kutcher made reference to his brother and the love between them. The Two and a Half Men star said that having a brother born with cerebral palsy taught him a lot. Check out this video of him and his brother:

Loving people isn't optional and people are not created equal. Everyone is created totally unequal to others, each with their own capabilities, abilities, thoughts, and opinions. What is equal, however, is the capacity to love each other. It is a lesson his brother, Michael, taught Ashton Kutcher.
