Adorable 2-Month-Old Baby Says First Words To Adoring Mom

May 24, 2020

Get ready to smile in amazement at a very advanced newborn baby. Newborns are constantly doing cute and crazy stuff for parents to capture on video and share with the world for a smile, but this particular baby is going to turn that smile into a jaw drop.

Why? Well, he manages to say a word for mom's video, and he isn't a one-off kinda fella.

This cute fella isn’t shy for mom’s astounding video. He’s cooing for the camera like a pro as he comfortably lounges in his bouncy seat. With mom’s coaxing and a little sideline encouragement from who we can assume is his dad, this 2-month old does something absolutely remarkable. He speaks a word. It may sound crazy, but there’s video to prove it.

Every parent thinks their kids are amazing. For most parents, those first few years of life are spent relishing in each new move their baby learns and milestone they climb. From first laughs and funny cries to those awkward first crawls, sit-ups, and steps, it’s a truly exciting time to be a parent.

One milestone that every parent just can’t wait to witness is that first spoken word. It really doesn’t matter if that word is mama, baba, dada, nana, or the dog’s name. It’s just music to a parent’s ear to hear whatever their baby has to say, right?

It’s rare that this magical moment gets caught on camera the very first time it happens, but this video, taken in 2015, shows this mom just happened to have luck on her side. Incredibly, it went down when this lad was just 2-months old, too.

The feat of learning a new language isn’t such an easy task. Like with adults, it takes time and exposure for babies to spit out some vocabulary that’s actually part of the English language. So, this happening at just 2-months old is far from the norm. Most babies don’t develop language skills until they’re at least 6-month’s old, and that’s still considered early language development by most pediatricians.

Until language develops, babies communicate with cries, cooing, gurgles, and other nonsensical patterns of sound. Of course, most moms and dads learn to interpret those sounds and match them to their baby’s wants, but it’s still not an actual word.

So, imagine this mom’s shock and joy when her 2-month old baby boy incredibly uses an actual word to communicate with her. She films as she encourages him to talk to her. At first, he coos a little, grins, and seems very excited that all eyes are on his adorable little face. Then, he does it. He utters his first word–“mom.” But, that’s not all this guy has in him. He waits a minute, smiling for the camera, before he does it again–“mom,” he says.

In the video description his parents claim the word is "open for interpretation/discussion," but we'd like to think this little baby knew exactly what he was saying!
