2. Brooms

Sounds silly but really if you think about it, how often do you clean off the brooms or mops in your home? Your brooms collect dust and all sorts of particles every time you use them. Luckily, there are a couple of ways to clean them easily.

  1. Wipe the bristles of your broom with antibacterial wipes to disinfect them from any bacteria.
  2. Optionally, you can also use a vacuum cleaner to free your broom from dust, hair, and any other particles built up in it.
  3. Prepare a solution of water and couple drops of dish soaps, soak the broom in for an hour and let it dry completely. It is also possible to use this method for the dustpan!

3. Reusable Grocery Bags

You take them to the grocery store each week so these bags see a lot of use. Not counting the fact that they are touching pavements, the trunk of your car and all sorts of surfaces. It is vital to keep your grocery bags clean since you carry your food in them which at the end ends up on your dinner table.

Read the care instructions on the bags you have. Many can be tossed into the washing machine like a regular piece of clothing. However if you own insulated grocery bags, it is better to just use antibacterial wipes to clean the inside of them.

4. Pillows

We have all seen pillows going completely yellow under the pillowcase. These stains are mostly caused by sweat building up on the surface over time. Here’s a way to get rid of these unpleasant stains if you own a top-loading washing machine.

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. Fill up the washing machine 1/3 of the way with hot water.
  2. Add all the ingredients and let them dissolve.
  3. Put your pillows into the washing machine and let them go through two rinse cycles.
  4. Leave your pillows out in the sun to dry or put them in the dryer along with some tennis balls so they will remain puffy.

However, if you do not own a top-loading washing machine, you can fill up your sink/tub with warm water and add couple drops of a mild detergent. Scrub and squeeze the pillow with your hands a few times to expose the stains to the solution you prepared. Rinse with cold water and squeeze gently to allow the excess water to flow out of the pillow. Lay your pillow on a sunny spot and let it dry.
