Jun 18, 2018

Having recently celebrated their 80th anniversary, 105-year-old Arthur Jacobs and 100-year-old Marcia Jacobs are among the oldest couples in the United States. Their grandson, Gabe Jacobs, is a New York filmmaker.

They met when they were both attending the University of Wisconsin, and married before the Second World War began.

Arthur, Gabe, and their family gathered into the hospital where Marcia was staying to visit her and provide comfort. She had lost some of her ability to communicate and understand what people were saying to her, so she wasn't able to understand when Gabe asked her if she remembered marrying Arthur.

Arthur, however, knew how to communicate with his wife of 80 years. He held her hand and she instinctively kissed it. Although his wife's decreased mental functions saddened him, Arthur remained deeply in love and showed that to everyone in the room.

He told her "I love you. I've loved you for 80 years. That's a long time. I miss you. I miss you all the time."

His beautiful comments towards his wife deeply resonated with grandson Gabe, who recorded the special moment and posted the video on YouTube. The video has since gone viral and people everywhere are celebrating the couple's everlasting love.

With the video, Gabe added that Arthur is completely in love with his wife but is very sad about her decreased ability to communicate with those around her. He finished by saying that he is "proud to have descended from these super humans."
